My promise to you if you read and watch this entire How to Play ADC guide, you’ll never need to consume any other ADC content out there.

What is an ADC in LoL

In this lesson, we are going to talk about ADC, what is it and how to play it. ADC is the short version for Attack Damage Carry.

This type of champion inflicts damage based on auto-attacks and the damage type is AD. The ADC is usually played on bottom lane with another player ( the support ).

ADC is the hardest role and to play it, you need to be very good with your mouse and keyboard. Every type of champion that inflicts heavy ” Attack Damage ” can have the role of an ADC.

3 types of champions inflict serious damage through attacks:

The Marksman

ADC Marksman League of Legends List

Marksman is the most played and picked ADC in all the matches through all the divisions. It is a ranged champion that inflicts sustained damage through basic attacks. It’s also the easiest type of champion that can fill in for the ADC position in your team.

Because it has range advantage can be a very good choice for new players. The only drawback of a Marksman is that they die pretty fast.

Here are some easy marksman champions to play:

  • Miss Fortune
  • Tristana
  • Sivir
  • Ashe
  • Varus
  • Senna

The Assassin

Assassins in League of Legends

Assassin is a very popular choice of champion that inflicts damage through attacks. Is the number one enemy to both ADC Marksmen and Mages.

Assassins can inflict a large amount of damage to a single target in a very short time.
Because they are cool stalkers that hunt to kill is easy to forget that they are bound to skills and cooldowns.

The characteristics of assassins are huge amounts of damage and mobility.
Filling in the ADC role as an assassin is not recommended for new players.

You need to know the game well before attempting ADC as an assassin bottom lane. There is not such a thing as an easy-to-play assassin. To successfully play an assassin you need to master the basics of the game.

The Fighter

Fighter List in League of Legends

The last type of champion that inflicts damage through attacks is the fighter. The fighter can sometimes fill in the ADC role on the bottom lane. Usually, you find fighters playing on the top lane and not on the bottom lane. They are the engagers, the tanks, the front liners.

A fighter is capable to absorb damage and controlling where the fight can start and finish. The fighter is also bound to his skills and cooldowns, like the assassins. Can be difficult to fill in as ADC on the bottom lane with a fighter champion but not as difficult as the assassin.

You can play whatever type of champion you want once you discovered what the game is about.

But for a starting player, the easiest choice to fill in the ADC role in your team is the Marksman type.

Play assassin or fighter on the bottom lane as ADC only if you are an experienced player.

Remember: as a new player, pick an ADC type that you enjoy and stick to it for a long time.

Powerful ADC-Support Combos

Because the bottom lane is usually defended by two people you should talk champion picks. Choose champions who are having a synergy together. In case your partner doesn’t communicate, pick something that works with his champion. If you pick before him or her, pick something that you like or/and you are best with. While you both pick your bottom champions, check what the enemy team is picking. And if possible choose a champion that counters the enemy.

Below you will find a list of champions that do well together. Before going into that read these things first:

  • combos are tested and currently working
  • all the skill shot combinations are for a clear fight 2v2 bottom
  • do the skill shot combos for your champions in the numbered order marked by the green color
  • adjust the combos if the situation asks
  • execute ALL combos on a single enemy champion
  • once you master these combos you will be able to make skill shot combinations of your own
  • execute the combos on a low Health Points enemy champion if possible
  • pick the summoner’s spells shown below each champion
  • ” AA ” in the simplified combos images stands for auto-attack

Vayne and Anivia exhibit a remarkable synergy that can catch the enemy bottom team off guard. Their coordinated abilities lead to impactful plays, leaving opponents stunned—both literally and figuratively.

Setting the Stage: Vayne’s Condemn and Anivia’s Crystallize

Vayne’s E ability, Condemn, combined with Anivia’s W ability, Crystallize, sets the stage for an incredibly satisfying play. Picture Vayne expertly stunning an enemy champion into Anivia’s well-placed wall.

This dynamic duo inflicts crowd control while strategically cutting off the opponent’s escape route and separating them from their allies. Their combined abilities create opportunities for game-changing plays.

Mastering Coordination for Victory

Mastering this coordination requires practice and precision. However, the effort is undoubtedly worth it. With Anivia and Vayne working together, they possess the power to divide and conquer enemies, turning seemingly challenging fights into resounding victories for their team.

In the vast universe of League of Legends, certain champion pairings stand out for their unique synergy. One such combination that I find particularly compelling is Jhin and Xerath. Their combined range capabilities make them a formidable duo.

Game Control: Dictating the Flow

Right from the start, Jhin and Xerath can dictate the flow of the game. They have the ability to either push enemies back or pull them in, leaving the opposition with little room for counterplay.

Combo for Kills: Devastating Precision

A well-executed sequence of Jhin’s W, followed by Xerath’s E, W, Ignite, Q, and auto-attacks from both champions, can secure a clean kill. Their coordination and burst damage potential make them a deadly duo.

Ultimate Chaos: Unleashing Havoc

Don’t hesitate to try these two champions together. Their ultimate abilities (Rs) can wreak havoc on the battlefield, dealing substantial damage from a considerable distance. Coordinating their ultimates can turn team fights into one-sided battles.

Embrace the Irresistible Combo

You’ll likely find this combo irresistible once you give it a try. Jhin and Xerath’s range, crowd control, and devastating damage output create a synergy that is hard to match. Embrace their combined power and control the battlefield with precision and finesse.

These two powerful champions excel in delivering devastating poke. Miss Fortune shines as an efficient ADC pick, while Syndra comes to the rescue with her poke abilities.

Syndra: The Overpowered Support

  • Syndra, from my perspective, stands out as the most overpowered support, seamlessly fitting alongside any ADC in the bottom lane.
  • Surprisingly, in the lower ranks, Syndra is often overlooked for the support role. However, a skilled friend who masters Syndra can surprise and catch enemies off guard.

Poke Abilities: A Sense of Security and Relaxation

  • The combination of Miss Fortune and Syndra’s poking prowess provides a remarkable sense of security and relaxation during gameplay.
  • The extended range of their poke makes it challenging for enemy junglers to successfully gank the duo.

Unleashing the Combo

A well-executed combo involves the following steps:

  1. Syndra initiates the assault with Q + E + Ignite.
  2. Miss Fortune quickly follows up with E + Q + W.
  3. Syndra concludes the combo with her W.

Unlocking Double Kill Potential

  • The power duo’s synergy unleashes splash damage, also referred to as “area of effect” damage or AoE.
  • This potent combination significantly increases the chances of securing two kills simultaneously.

With the strategic coordination between Miss Fortune and Syndra, domination in the bottom lane becomes a reality. The duo’s long-range poke keeps opponents on their toes while maximizing their offensive potential.

These two champions form an intriguing and formidable duo, capable of achieving unstoppable dominance in the right hands. While farming in the early stages may pose some challenges, remember that farming under your tower is always a viable option.

Mastering the Combo

For those brave enough to attempt this combination, be aware that mastering the Yasuo + Rakan synergy requires skill and practice. However, if you possess the confidence and determination, go forth and seize the opportunity.

The Reward of Hard Work

As with many things in life, the most arduous undertakings often yield the most rewarding results. Such is the case with the explosive synergy between Yasuo and Rakan, amplified even further after reaching level 6. Yasuo’s R ultimate meshes perfectly with Rakan’s W, creating a deadly combination.

Unleashing the Combo

Picture this devastating combo, ready to be unleashed at level 6:

  • Rakan gracefully initiates the assault with his W, swiftly followed by Yasuo’s decisive R.
  • Yasuo then fluidly chains together a series of devastating moves: Q + AA + E + W + AA + Q.
  • Rakan, ever the showman, concludes the combo with his own masterful maneuvers: E + E + Q + R + AA + Ignite.

The Power of Synergy

If you revel in the playstyle of Yasuo, the agile ADC assassin, it is highly recommended to persuade your support to embrace the charismatic Rakan. The synergy between these champions manifests from multiple angles, granting them unmatched coordination and the ability to dominate the battlefield.

Embrace the Potential

Embrace the power of this formidable duo and unleash your true potential on the Rift. With their combined strength and strategic coordination, Yasuo and Rakan can become an unstoppable force, leaving their enemies in awe.

The bot lane is often graced by two formidable champions, Ashe and Leona. This pair is an ancient and deadly combination that can dominate the game when played correctly.

The Synergy

  • Ashe and Leona’s synergy is rooted in their complementary abilities. Ashe’s ability to slow enemies dovetails perfectly with Leona’s desire to engage and stun her foes. This simple yet effective combination can be a game-changer if executed properly.

The Challenge

  • Leona, however, can sometimes struggle to protect her ADC from hard-hitting poke champions such as Ziggs, Xerath, Syndra, and Lux. It’s crucial for Leona to pay close attention to the enemy’s patterns and vulnerabilities.

The Engagement

  • The key to success lies in Leona’s ability to engage at the right moment. A well-timed Flash or E can turn the tide of a skirmish in your favor.

  • As Leona engages, Ashe should focus her Auto-Attacks, W, and Q on the same enemy. This coordinated assault can quickly whittle down an enemy’s health.

  • Leona should then continue her engage with Ignite, Q, W, and Auto-Attacks. With this combination, the chances of securing a kill are high.

This duo’s effectiveness lies in their synergy and the ability to capitalize on each other’s strengths. If you’ve successfully executed this strategy once or twice, you’ll find it becomes second nature. Practice this deadly combo and see how it transforms your gameplay.

We embark on an exploration of the formidable fusion between Samira and Shen, a partnership that, when honed to perfection, wields unparalleled might on the very fabric of the battlefield.

Samira: A Versatile ADC with a High Skill Ceiling

Samira, a personal favorite among many ADC champions, offers a versatile skill set that can be challenging to master. However, once a player has honed their skills with this champion, they can become a significant threat to the opposing team.

Samira’s W ability, for instance, can provide a team-wide shield against powerful ultimates such as Ashe’s R. Furthermore, her unique combination of abilities allows her to momentarily assume the role of a tank, adding an extra layer of complexity and strategy to her gameplay.

Shen: The Perfect Complement to Samira

When Shen’s abilities are combined with Samira’s, the duo can become a significant problem for the enemy team. Upon reaching level 3, a proficient Shen player can engage a weaker target using his E, followed by his Q and W. Simultaneously, Samira can auto-attack Shen’s target, bolstered by her passive, and execute her Q + E + W combo.

The Level 6 Power Spike: A Turning Point in the Game

The strategic potential of Samira and Shen becomes even more apparent once they reach level 6. At this point, Samira can receive substantial protection from Shen’s ultimate R if she chooses to engage in a fight. What makes Shen’s ultimate R particularly potent is its ability to be cast from any location. Whether Shen is in the jungle warding the area or at the base replenishing his health and purchasing items, he can always provide support when needed.

Samira and Shen: A Potent Combination

In summary, the strategic combination of Samira and Shen poses a significant threat to the enemy team. Their abilities synergize perfectly, creating a powerful dynamic that can dominate the battlefield.

It is important to remember that mastering this combination requires practice and understanding of both champions’ abilities:

  • Samira’s W can shield the entire team from powerful ultimates like Ashe’s R.
  • Shen’s ultimate R can be cast from any location, providing versatile support.
  • The synergy between Samira and Shen can be a decisive factor in the battlefield.

I encourage you to experiment with this combination and discover the strategic depth it offers. As always, continuous learning and practice are key to mastering League of Legends.

Mastering ADC: The Warding Secrets That Will Transform Your Gameplay

Placing wards is a VERY important matter in League of Legends. Knowing how to place wards can give you a win instead of a loss. They are playing a very powerful role the entire game.
The wards placed in the early phase of the game can shape the entire match. For instance, you can die in minute 3 to a jungler gank because you had no ward placed on the river for visibility. Because of that, your bottom enemies will have the advantage. And that can echo the entire match.

ADC Warding in the Early Phase of the Game

Early phase of the game is from minute 0 up to until minute 14.

The reason why we want to put wards and have vision is that we want to survive the early game without dying. Chances are that the enemy jungler attacks you 60%, the enemy middle laner 35%, and top laner 5%.

As a new player, you may not be aware of the fact that enemy top laner can attack you, but he can with teleport spell.

Pick the Stealth Ward when you are buying your starting items especially if you are a new player. The default keybind to put a ward is ” 4 “.

You will have 1 stealth ward to place it on the map. Don’t rush on using it because your next ward will be ready to place in minute 4. Focus on what’s currently going on.

Depending on what is happening you must act.

Here are some common situations of an early match in League of Legends happening between minute 0:00 and 2:00. Let’s see how you can use your ward in all these various situations.

How to ward as ADC if your team is being invaded

You are on the blue team and your team is being invaded on red buff’s location. Place a ward in the bush that the enemy team is about to cross and retreat yourself.

How to Play ADC When Your Team Is Being Invaded Early in League of Legends Videogame

In the image above, you can consider placing the ward in that particular bush. That bush is an example. Ward other bushes if the situation demands.

Consider fighting only if you guys are at least as many like them in number.
Fights might happen in that bush and visibility is important.

If someone from your team placed a ward there, don’t waste your ward.

How to ward as ADC if your team is invading

With an aggressive combo, your team decides to rush into the enemy jungle. You are on the blue team.

As a marksman ADC position yourself behind fighters and assassins. As an ADC fighter or assassin stay in front.

In the image below the ADC chose to place the ward in that bush.

How to Play ADC When Your Team Is Invading the Enemy Jungle Early in League of Legends Videogame

Pay attention not to have two wards placed from your team in the same bush.

How to play ADC when the enemy bottom is missing under minute 1:40

Your 2 bottom enemies are missing. If they are not showing up around minute 1:40 there is something going on and you must be careful.

If you are the blue team’s ADC, take this path after you helped your jungler with the red buff:

And if you are the blue team’s ADC, take this path after you helped your jungler with the blue buff:

ADC and Support Warding and Pathing After Helping the Jungler as the Red Team on level 1 in League of Legends

The general idea is to be on alert if they are missing and be ready to use your summoners’ escape spells.

Keep your wards as the situation is not yet clear.

Best Warding Location Under Minute 8

Now, in all these situations if you acted accordingly you or your support should have at least 1 ward. Place it here:

Safety Warding Spot on Bottom Lane in an early League of Legends Match
safety warding location bottom lane up until minute 8 as ADC

It’s the best standard warding location for the bottom lane up until minute 8.

Yet, this standard warding location is not something you must automatically use without proper judgment.

There are some situations when you can keep your ward/s. A good example would be when you are facing enemies that cannot hard disable your champion. Kai’Sa and Yummi with a Nidalee jungler as enemies won’t be a great threat and you may keep your ward. Another situation when you can keep your ward is when you are being pushed in your tower by the enemies and you won’t have many options to use your yellow trinket.

If you are spotting the enemy jungler top lane, or mid lane going top lane, or if he is dead you can keep the ward.

Good warding practice as ADC in the early game phase

If you pushed your enemies into their tower place one ward into their jungle here if you are on the blue side:

And here if you are on the red side:

ADC Warding in the Middle and End Phase of the Game

The middle phase of the game lasts from minute 14.

The late game phase lasts from minute 22 until the match’s over.

Both the middle and end games are dynamic with a high variety of things going on. Because of that, we cannot have standard warding locations. And also because things move fast and very fast, there is an important mechanic that I want to share with you for these phases regarding warding.

The mechanic it’s called warding over the wall and here I’m teaching the most common warding over the wall locations.

The ADC's Control Ward Guide

TIPS on ADC Control Ward's guide

After each recall or death, check if you have space in your inventory and see if you can afford to buy a Control Ward.

Keep in mind that you can have one active Control Ward on map.

The Control Ward is a valuable asset because:

  • it’s permanent until destroyed or replaced by another control ward
  • it reveals everything invisible
  • denies the normal wards visibility
  • it’s expensive to buy
  • rewards the one who killed it with significant gold

As of that, you must defend it as much as you can by putting it in the right place AND protecting it with warding totems.

In the image below we have a control ward and rain of warding totems surrounding it that are all owned by the blue team:

Blue Team Doing Baron Protected by Control Ward in League of Legends Videogame
the blue team doing baron in a rain of wards being attacked by the red team

The scenario above describes a rain of warding totems protecting the control ward.

The red team is guessing that the blue team is doing the Baron and they are heading that way. They have to clear the warding totems with a sweeping lens first to get to the control ward’s location. Because of that, they will act with fear of dying because they have no visibility. That will give the blue team time to prepare the defense of that control ward.

The blue team will have the advantage in this scenario. They can keep the red team away using spells feeding the red team fear.

It’s important to buy as many as you can control wards the entire match. Visibility is crucial, especially for a Marksman ADC. All good ADCs will carry this type of ward with them.

I gave you this control ward setup example because it can apply anywhere on the map.

The Bottom ADC's Farsight Alteration Mini Guide

Farsight Alteration farsight alteration icon in league of legends videogameit’s a permanent ward and you can place it from a very long distance. It’s also visible to others and anyone can kill it if they spot it. Because of that, buy it when the early phase game is over, as visibility is very contested during this game phase. Cannot be purchased until level 9.

People often call it ” blue trinket ” instead of Farsight Alteration.

Reasons to buy Farsight alteration:

  • to reach certain locations on the map without dying
  • useful for objectives like dragons, baron, towers, or even kills
  • helps you with following attacks on an enemy that entered a bush where you don’t have visibility
  • you can use the blue trinket in your jungle to spot sneaky assassins coming to kill you
Blue trinket TIPS
  • The blue trinket can reveal 2 separated bushes for a brief moment like this:
  • Also you can combine the blue trinket with your character’s ultimate:

 Remember:

  • save your wards as much as you can,
  • always buy control wards,
  • protect the control wards,
  • always be cautious when walking in the jungle, buy the blue trinket after the first phase of the game

How to Play ADC: Hidden Techniques of ADC Trading

Trading as people likes to call it means that you are not going for the kill or all in. It means that your goal is harassing him and then come back to killing monsters with last-hit.

You want to win each trading. To achieve that you must know when to attack him or them both.

Tips on how to "trade" health points in League of Legends as ADC:

  • Punish the enemy ADC when he just used his attack on killing a monster because he won’t be able to attack you.
  • Always stay close to your support when attempting to trade. You can die in 3 to 5 seconds if you are not paying attention to this matter in the early phase of the game.
  • Attack the enemy when your support stuns him or locks his champion.
  • Don’t attack the enemy champions if you are near too many enemy mobs because you will take serious damage.
  • Always try to hide in bushes after performing any sort of attack. As you vanish into them the enemies won’t be able to retaliate. If you are attacking while in the bush you are revealing yourself. Because of that make sure to step out of the bush when attacking.
  • Hit them with a big range skill shot when the enemy champion/s are near walls as it’s almost impossible to dodge:

  • Attack enemy champions with AOE abilities if you can kill the mobs around them.
  • Attack the enemy champions with your abilities if they used theirs on mobs or if they missed you
  • You can attack the enemy ADC if your range is higher without taking damage.

Kiting Secrets That Will Make You Motivated

On topic, if you are into ” How to play ADC ” then ” Kiting “ is crucial. There is not a single good ADC out there that is not using this mechanic.

Kiting happens through your champion abilities, but more important via your auto-attacks.

So what is Kiting?

Kiting ” in League of Legends is when you are attacking the enemy champion while staying out of its range.
The process itself is like how we used to play with our kites when we were children. Kitting happens with 3 things: you, a string, and a kite. You are your champion., the string is the distance between you and the kite, and the kite is the enemy champion. “

There are 2 settings that enable you to kite like a pro: player attack move click and attack move on cursor.

“Player Attack Move Click combined with Attack move on cursor” is the most popular method used for “kiting” in League of Legends. And next, I am going to show you how to have these settings in place and enable you to kite like a pro.

Kiting with Player Attack Move Click and Attack move on cursor

This video will show you how to have these 2 settings and how do they work:

Optional settings for Player Attack Move Click and Attack move on cursor

1. Target Champions Only Setting

This setting allows you to attack only the enemy champions with your auto-attacks.

You can use this when the enemy champions are behind:

  • towers
  • dragons
  • mobs
  • Baron

Let’s see how to set up the keybind for it:

  1. Press ” Escape “
  2. Go to ” HOTKEYS “
  3. Click on ” Abilities and Summoner Spells “
  4. Scroll down until you find ” Target Champions Only “
  5. Set your desired hotkey for it, I like to keep it on ” S “

Check the video below if you have trouble finding it:

Notes for ” target champions only ” setting:

  • if you play with a normal cursor, it will turn red if you play with legacy cursor it will have the borders white:
  • if you want to have it as an on/off switch, this is how you set it:
    • Press ” Escape “
    • Go to ” GAME “
    • Locate and check or uncheck Treat ‘ Target Champions Only ‘ as a toggle. It’s under “Gameplay” and it’s preferential.
How to Setup Target Champions Only as a Toggle in League of Legends Videogame
2. Turn Off Auto-Attack

The reason you want this setting turned off is that you want your character to be fully controlled by you. Having this setting off will prevent your character to attack by itself. This is how you turn off auto-attacking:

  1. Press ” Escape “
  2. Go to ” GAME “
  3. Locate and be sure to have the ” Auto-attack ” setting unchecked.

  1. Create a custom game (Play>Create Custom>Confirm) and play versus a friend. Give him the custom’s game name and ask him to play a fighter champion. If you don’t have any friends online play with a bot instead ( Play>Training>Start). Die as many times as you need to the bot for it to gain level and buy items, then start the practice session with it. Note that after each death you can speed up the game and even teleport anywhere on map from the practice menu.
  2. Pay attention to your champions animations of auto-attacks and abilities and learn them.
  3. Practice the kiting with different attack speeds. Understanding the feel of attack speed is key to kiting.
  4. If you are having difficulty in getting used to kiting, focus on your end goal. Concentrate on what you want to achieve. And you want 2 things: run and do damage. I know it will be hard when you first try it, and because of that run and hit them once. In time you will learn how to add more actions to your kiting.
  5. Try to mix your auto-attacks with your abilities for a perfect kiting event. For example, if you are playing with Vayne, try to mix her Q in your kiting like this:
Vayne Kiting Combo in League of Legends Videogame

Remember: set up your key bindings properly and learn how to kite. It’s the core of an ADC. Especially for a ranged one.

ADC Wave Management

We can’t have a guide to playing ADC without Creep Wave Management. If you never heard of it until now, I will make sure you understand what it is and how to make use of it in an easy way.

League of Legends is a 5 versus 5 people videogame. Each team has its minions that auto-attack the enemy monsters, champions, towers, and base.

Minions spawn until the match is over from each team’s base called Nexus. The game controls them and not the players.

The orange area in the image beneath describes the pathing of minions and where they meet on a new match:

Minion pathing representation in League of Legends

In that orange area the minions will kill each other when the game starts.

Creep waves are programmed to meet each other on the map and fight first at:

  • 1:30 on Middle Lane
  • 1:40 on Bottom Lane
  • 1:40 on Top Lane

Below you have a visual representation of blue and red minions waves on the first encounter:

Players can attack the enemy minions and because of that, they will influence the minion waves giving birth to our topic here: creep wave management.

IMPORTANT:

Below you will have all creep the wave management definitions simplified. To make any use of them, you have to have control of the wave management. That means you must pay attention to what your opponent is doing.

Watch his wave management strategies and respond to them. There is always 1 side controlling the wave and as of that, you should make sure that you are the one in control. The reason why you want to be in control of the wave is that its an essential tool in winning your lane.

As a note, you’ll have stronger minions spawning on the lane you destroyed more towers. As of that you’ll know that your lane will always be pushing. And also, average team level is influencing your minion’s strength.

Therefore, there are 4 creep wave management strategies or mechanics:

  1. Pushing the wave
  2. Pulling the wave
  3. Freezing the wave
  4. Slow pushing the wave

Freezing the wave is the opposite strategy to slow pushing the wave and vice-versa.

And, pushing the wave is the opposite strategy to pulling the wave and vice-versa.

Pushing the Wave as Bottom ADC

The definition of pushing the wave is when you are attacking the enemy creeps more than your enemies. You can either do it with auto-attacks or via skills.

If you attack the enemy minions so much that your champion needs to cross the yellow line drawn in the image below it means that you are pushing the wave:

Invisible Line Delimiting Wave Pushing in League of Legends Bottom Side

Here is an example of pushing the lane as blue team:

Example of Pushing the Lane as Blue Team on Bottom Lane in League of Legends Videogame

Advantages of using the pushing the wave strategy

  • you can push the enemy under the tower and you might make him lose precious early gold
  • if you pushed your enemy under the tower, you might harass him without taking damage because he’ll be using his attacks and skills to farm
  • by using this strategy you can level faster than your opponent and have more health and more skills than your opponent if you decide to engage in a fight
  • sometimes if you push the wave, you can prevent the enemies from recalling
  • your jungler can be helped by you if he decides to attack the enemy jungler
  • pushing the wave into the enemy tower will mitigate your gold loss if you want to recall. Because the creep wave will be in front of your tower when you return to your lane.

Disadvantages of using the pushing the wave strategy

  • you are vulnerable to attacks from the enemy jungler

TIPS on how to play pushing the wave strategy

  • if the enemy wants to execute the same strategy, you must attack the creeps more than him
  • ask your support to damage the creeps if needed
  • look out for the enemy jungler always when using pushing the wave strategy
  • have wards in place to spot the enemy jungler, mid laner, and top laner
  • be ready to use the escape summoner spells like flash or ghost
  • have your escape skills ready in case of an ambush

Pulling the Wave as Bottom ADC

Pulling the wave is when you attack the enemy creeps less than your opponents. You can achieve that by only last-hitting the mobs. Make your opponents cross the yellow line shown in the image below to reach your minions with skills and auto-attacks and you have pulled the wave:

Invisible Line Delimiting Wave Pulling in League of Legends Bottom Side

Here is an example of pulling the lane as blue team:

Example of Pulling the Lane as Blue Team on Bottom Lane in League of Legends Videogame

Advantages of using the pulling the wave strategy

  • you play a safe match and you can’t be ganked by the enemy jungler
  • this tactic is handy if your champion does not have an ‘ escape ‘ ability or skill
  • your enemies are susceptible to ganks from your jungler.

Disadvantages of using the pulling the wave strategy

  • if the creep wave got pulled too much into your tower you might end up losing some gold
  • you may be under-leveled

TIPS on how to play pulling the wave strategy

  • if the enemy plans to pull the wave like you then you must give up some gold by not attacking at all not even last-hitting the enemy monsters
  • in champion select, inform your jungler that you are going to try to pull the wave bottom side; because you inform him about your strategy he might consider picking a strong early jungler like Lee Sin or Poppy and come and aid you
  • be ready to be aggressive if you notice your jungler is heading towards your lane
  • try to damage the enemies a little before your jungler arrives
  • if possible, bait the enemies into starting a skirmish if your jungler is eager to join the fight; act as if you are afraid of them or have little less Health, or make a bad move

Freezing the Wave as Bottom ADC

Freezing the wave it’s a mechanic to influence where the fight between red and blue minions occurs on the lane by trying to hold the wave in place. This mechanic is often named freezing the lane.

There are 2 methods to achieve this.

Freezing the Wave - Method 1

Keeping alive 1 or more enemy creeps depending on where you want the freeze to happen. The more enemy creeps you keep alive the more you’ll be pushed to your tower. You are playing on the blue side in the image below.

Lane Freezing as ADC on Blue Side bottom in League of Legends Method 1

Freezing the Wave - Method 2

Tanking the enemy wave creeps with your champion until your creeps arrive. Again, in the image beneath you are the blue team ADC.

Lane Freezing as ADC on Blue Side bottom in League of Legends Method 2

Advantages of using the freezing the wave mechanic

  • you save yourself from losing gold to your tower
  • this tactic can be used if you are planning to push more than one lane
  • you can plan to freeze your lane near your tower to farm safely

Disadvantages of using the freezing the wave mechanic

  • you might lose some health when you are tanking the enemy minions
  • it allows the enemy the opportunity to leave his lane and help his team

TIPS on how to play freezing the wave mechanic

  • freeze the wave in front of your tower to achieve a very fast pulling wave
  • you can also freeze the wave in front of the enemy tower to achieve a very fast pushing wave as well
  • while tanking the enemy creeps you can drag them to another spot

Slow Pushing the Wave as Bottom ADC

Slow pushing the wave it’s a strategy to control the speed of your push. It’s a way to send your minions closer to the enemy tower slowly. Slow pushing the wave is often used to put high pressure on the enemies. As you will end up with more creeps than your opponents in front of their tower. They won’t be able to attack you, they will lose gold and Health Points if they do.

You are playing on the blue side in the instances below.

If you want to push slow you can kill 2-3 the enemy’s caster minions:

How to Have a Slow ‘ Slow Push ‘ in League of Legends Videogame as Bottom ADC

.. and if you want the wave or lane to become a faster ‘ slow push ‘, kill the fighter minions:

How to have a faster ' Slow Push ' in League of Legends Videogame as Bottom ADC

Advantages of using the slow pushing the wave strategy

  • you put high pressure on your opponents
  • if a sudden fight occurs, you will have minions number advantage and your enemies will take more damage
  • ‘ Slow pushing ‘ is allowing you to hit the enemy tower and gain more gold by doing so
  • you are creating a ‘ diving ‘ opportunity meaning that you will attack the enemies even if they are under their tower
  • slow pushing can force the enemy jungler to reveal its position

Disadvantages of using the slow pushing the wave strategy

  • because slow pushing is a form of pushing the wave, you are vulnerable to enemy jungler attacks

TIPS on how to play slow pushing the wave mechanic

  • if your enemy wants to do this same strategy you should adjust the damage done to the enemy minions until you managed to achieve your slow pushing goal
  • slow pushing can be achieved disguised as harassment using AoE skills damaging enemy champions and creeps at the same time
  • slow pushing is giving you the advantage of minion numbers, and so you can attempt diving the enemies
  • use slow push if you plan to aid your jungler with the dragon, to put a ward, to gank mid, etc…
  • slow pushing can act as a distraction and so if you need a base recall, you can do it easily

Remember: when setting a strategy with your support in the champion selection, it’s good to inform him about your wave management strategy. Wave management or lane management is crucial in winning the games and so, always play the game with this thought in your mind.

Two Golden Positioning Rules

League of Legends is a game that demands strategy, quick thinking, and a deep understanding of your chosen role. For those who choose the ADC role, particularly marksmen, positioning is key. In this section, we’ll delve into the intricacies of ADC positioning and provide you with actionable tips to improve your gameplay.

The Bushes: Your Hidden Enemies

A Bush in League of Legends

Let’s start with making you aware that all bushes as ADC, especially for the marksmen, are your enemies. You must treat them as such since minute 1. You are one, if not the most wanted target and so you need to stay away from every possible danger. For new players, a bush act as a cloak making you invisible to everyone outside that bush. The only way to be spotted in that bush is if the bush is having a ward in it or if certain spells from certain champions are cast on the bush.

The Importance of Positioning

Playing ADC role bottom lane especially the marksman type relies very much on how are you positioning yourself when a fight happens. Your goal is to stay alive as much as possible and do damage as much as you can.

Every fight must happen with these 2 things in your mind because your team is relying on your heavy damage and you staying alive it’s crucial.

Golden Rules for ADC Positioning

To help you navigate the battlefield, here are two golden rules to follow:

  1. Analyze the Incoming Fight in Less Than a Second

This rule is all about quick thinking and strategic planning. You need to come up with a fighting plan in less than a second. Don’t worry if you’re a new player; with practice, your brain will become adept at this. Pre-thinking your positioning can be the difference between winning and losing a fight, or even a game.

  2. Hit the Closest Enemy in Team Fights

This rule is often overlooked in the pursuit of quick kills. However, it’s crucial for maintaining a strong position in team fights. Simply put, always attack the closest enemy. Lure them, kite them, trap them, and auto-space them as much as possible. Auto-spacing refers to dealing damage to someone who has less range than you. For example, Caitlyn can auto-space Vayne with ease because Caitlyn has a 650 range and Vayne 550.

ADC Positioning Scenarios Simplified

Let’s explore some common scenarios that ADC players encounter and the best strategies to employ for optimal positioning.

Scenario 1: The 10-Minute Mark

Situation: It’s minute 10 and your team is about to engage in a fight. You’ve been farming for a long time and haven’t recalled to base to buy your items. Should you fight with your team or go back to base and buy your items?

Answer: If you haven’t recalled by minute 10, don’t fully engage in the fight. Stay patient, keep your escape skills ready, and help your team retreat. However, if it seems like your team is winning, go all in and support them fully.

Scenario 2: Uncertain Damage

Situation: You feel a team fight is imminent, but you’re unsure if you have enough damage. What’s your best move?

Answer: If you’re unsure about your damage, warn your team to retreat and continue farming. If your team doesn’t listen, finish your farming and then try to help them escape if possible. Remember, maximizing farming is crucial.

Scenario 3: Sudden Fight

Situation: A sudden fight occurs. What’s your current position? Can you reach your team in time?

Answer: If you can reach your team in time, don’t hesitate to help them, especially if your presence gives your team a numerical advantage. If you can’t reach them, continue farming and set up a lane push based on the game state.

Scenario 4: Fair Fight?

Situation: You’re in a team fight. Is it a fair fight (2v2, 3v3, both teams have summoner spells ready) or are you outnumbered without summoner spells up?

Answer: If it’s a fair fight and you feel confident, be aggressive. Remember, the team that lands the first hit usually wins. If the fight isn’t fair and you’re outnumbered, be cautious and never go all-in unless your base is under threat.

Scenario 5: Outnumbered but Enemies are Low

Situation: The enemies outnumber your team, but they’ve already used their skills and they are low on life. Can you go in?

Answer: This is a tricky one. Yes and no. Yes, because you might be able to take out some of them before they reach you. No, because some champions perform better with low Health Points and can stun-lock you. It’s important to learn champion skills.

Scenario 6: Fast Pushing a Lane

Situation: You’re fast pushing a lane to destroy a tower, but your team is in a team fight at the dragon and they all fall to the enemy team. Should you try to finish the tower, run and recall, or go in and finish the enemies with low Health Points?

Answer: If you’re full life and ready with all your skills and summoner spells, you should destroy the tower. If the low-health enemies get greedy and try to fight you, you can take out one or two, or even three of them, which would put them in a bad spot.

Scenario 7: Dragon Spawn and Jungle Visibility

Situation: You’ve recalled and there are 30 seconds left until the next dragon spawn. Your team wants to do it with vision into the enemy team jungle but not on your side of the jungle and many enemies are missing. Should you rush to reach your team as fast as possible through your jungle without visibility?

Answer: No. Go with your minions in the middle and be ready to defend yourself even if it feels safe, then join your team. Be aware that assassins might be waiting for you in any bush inyour jungle where you lack visibility.

Learning ADC Positioning with Video Examples

This video will give you an example of how your positioning hitting the closest enemy should look like:

As you can see in the video, the ADC is always attacking the closest enemy, and by doing that he is not putting himself in danger while he is doing damage.

If you want to get more in-depth ADC positioning examples check out this video.

ADC Positioning Tips

  • try to stay behind your front-liners ( tanks ) as a marksman ADC
  • look for weakened enemies in a team fight
  • stay away from dangerous skills like Fizz’s Ultimate , Ashe’s Ultimate , Blitzcrank’s Rocket Grab , etc
  • help your jungler until exactly 1 minute and 35 seconds to have time to position yourself correctly on your bottom lane
  • during phase lane, keep the distance up from your enemies if they outrange you and stay close to punish them if you are the one outranging them
  • as a general rule, because mages and assassins are your worst enemies, you have to keep your distance if they are looking to hunt you down in any team fight unless you know you can kill them
  • in a team fight, never go melee range as marksman ADC, always position yourself on an escape path if things go bad

Remember: when setting a strategy with your support in the champion selection, it’s good to inform him about your wave management strategy. Wave management or lane management is crucial in winning the games and so, always play the game with this thought in your mind.

Essential ADC Tips

  1. Practice 15 minutes of Auto-Attacking before joining ranked matches

You can take part in killing a minion but if you don’t give it the final blow you won’t earn any gold from killing it.

You may have heard there are 10 minions killed/minute unofficial rule that you must do but the truth is every game is unique and you can never know what to expect from it. Don’t stress about this. What you can do is do your best in a given circumstance.

For example, you are playing a Vayne and your opponent is rolling with a Caitlyn.

Because of her range, Caitlyn is having an option to be the aggressive player meaning that she will attack you whenever she gets the chance a lot easier than you. If that happens you must be very cautious not to get hit by her. Stay out of her range and do your best to keep the farm up with her. Here I am practicing the last hitting before entering the ranked ladder:

  1. Check the enemy’s summoners spells and masteries
Summoner's Spells in League of Legends Videogame

When the game is loading be sure to check your enemy’s summoner spells, their masteries, and points earned on that champion by left-clicking their big icons.

The summoner spells dictate how the all-in engages will end early game and reading their masteries and champion points can give you a general idea of how well he or she knows how to play ADC.

A high number of champion points with level 7 mastery(max at the moment) doesn’t mean that the player is very strong with his/her champion but keep those high numbers in mind. These 2 things can improve your success bottom lane as ADC dramatically.

  1. If you are being pushed you are as safe as you can be and because of that remember not to waste your wards.
  1. Don’t forget about the honey fruit on the river. You can replenish your life and mana after you push your bottom lane. The first one spawns between minute 6:00 and 6:30.
HoneyFruit in League of Legends Videogame
  1. Take red buff whenever possible. You’ll slow enemies when you hit them and also do more damage while you have it.
Red Buff Monster in League of Legends
  1. You can make your character stop before last-hitting a mob with the ‘ Player Stop Position ‘ option. Some people find this very useful. This is how you set it:

Press ESC > Click Hotkeys > Scroll down onto Hotkeys > Click Player Movement > Set key for Player Stop Position

How to Setup Player Stop Position in League of Legends Videogame
  1. You know you are on the right path farming your gold when you have 10 mobs farmed every minute.
  2. On level 1 you should always use your ability to do damage to mobs and champions at the same time if possible. For example, if you have a Pyke or a Blitzcrank’s as enemy support they know you don’t have anything else in your arsenal and if you miss and they pull you their duo will have the advantage since you missed your damage.
  3. Always aid your support with warding during laning phase.
  4. If your enemies are stronger in the first 2-3 levels, try to play on minion advantage, be sure to have more minions than your enemies.
  5. On laning phase always consider damaging the enemy without Hit Points regeneration.
  6. Don’t rush to hit the enemy minions in laning phase, try to get a random advantage over your enemy ADC if he initiated a last hit animation on your mob and use a skill followed and auto-attack on him.
  7. When farming jungle monsters, try to position yourself in bushes if possible to be able to see more. This can save you from getting killed.
  8. In a team fight always be sure to engage an enemy that cannot reach you if you play the marksman role.
  9. When auto-attacking don’t stand still. Constantly be on the move.

Remember: it takes time to execute the things explained above, so don’t rush and panic, just have fun with the game with these general ADC tips in mind.

ABILITY ORDER MAX Q

A Graph Showing Miss Fortune's Ability Order Maxing Her Q

Understanding Miss Fortune's Abilities: A Key to Dominating the Game

Miss Fortune, a formidable ADC in League of Legends, boasts a unique set of abilities that, when used strategically, can turn the tide of any match.

Her passive ability, Love Tap, inflicts bonus physical damage when she targets a new enemy. Double Up, her Q ability, fires a shot that can ricochet off one enemy to hit another.

Strut, her W ability, provides a short burst of movement and attack speed.

Make it Rain, her E ability, showers a specified area with bullets, dealing magic damage and slowing enemies.

Lastly, her ultimate ability, Bullet Time, unleashes a barrage of bullets in a cone in front of her, dealing significant physical damage to all enemies in its path.

Early Game Strategy: Farming and Poking

In the early stages of the game, your focus should be on farming and poking the enemy with Double Up. This ability can critically strike if the first shot kills its target, making it a potent tool for harassing enemy champions when aimed at low-health minions near them.

Mid Game Strategy: Team Fights and Objectives

As the game progresses into the mid phase, it’s time to group up with your team and participate in team fights. Use Make it Rain to slow enemies and Bullet Time to deal massive damage to multiple enemies. Remember, your role in these fights is to deal damage from a safe distance, so positioning is crucial.

Late Game Strategy: Positioning and Objective Control

In the late game, positioning becomes even more critical. Stay at the back of your team during fights to avoid getting caught out by enemy assassins or bruisers. Use your abilities to deal damage from a distance and help your team secure objectives. Remember, as an ADC, your survival and damage output can be the deciding factor in late-game team fights.

Remember, mastering Miss Fortune, like any champion, requires understanding her abilities and knowing when and how to use them effectively. With practice and strategic gameplay, you can dominate the bot lane and lead your team to victory.
